2013 Disney Princess 1/2 Marathon (finally!) Part 1

Ok. Here it is. Only about a month late. My Disney Princess 1/2 Marathon update!! I have to say it will mostly be pictures, but I will do my best! Enjoy!

So the day begins at 2am...yes that's right, as many others before me have written, myself and my roomie, Nicole set our alarms and were awake at 2am! I know, that doesn't sound very exciting, but I was so very excited! I got up and began getting myself together! I had put together my costume the night before as well as all I needed for my race day. Nicole put on some music, we started jamming out, putting our faces on and running gear!

I was so excited I ended up rushing Nicole a bit, my apologizes! She was all ready go for the most part, but when I am being told we have to be out and on the bus at 3am I am ready to go for it! But she wasn't..so as she is trying to pin her bib onto her shirt, I am pressuring her...wooops...excitement took over!

So we board the bus, wait for it to depart...and drive off to Epcot! Nicole and I were both registered for the Race Retreat. It was wonderful! It was cool, there was food and private porta-potties for us! There were also some character appearances, which I have to say I was a little disappointed. When we got there the three fairies from Sleeping Beauty were there, but while standing in line then went away and brought in a field mouse from Cinderella!

final costume results!

While in the race retreat tent they made an announcement for those in Corrals A-C to make there way to the start line. So Nicole went off and made her way to her corral, and I waited to meet up with my friend Shavonne who was in my corral. Actually...I was moved up from Corral E to D from my 10k race time. But since Shavonne was in E, I decided it might be nice to start with her since it our first 1/2 so it was great to have a running partner, plus she had a pace timer!

So here is everyone making there way to their corrals, it was a little of a walk, but it helped loosen the nerves a bit as well as the muscles!

There was a porta-potti stop on the way to the corrals which we made just to allow more time for running and less stops! Which I can tell you now that I only stopped once for a pee stop right before Mile 9.

So here is the start line! As each group started or neared the start line The Fairy Godmother gave us her words of encouragement and magic!

Then off with a Bibbidi-Bobbidy Boo we were off! The fireworks went off for each group which was great excitement!

When I wanted to make a stop for this photo Shavonne wanted to keep on running, so I let her go on and I waited for at least 5-10 minutes! But hey it was worth seeing Prince Eric. He told me to keep an eye out for Max, but I didn't see him anywhere on the course unfortunately...that dog must get into so much trouble!

I really wish I stopped for this photo opportunity...oh well, next time!

Making our way through the Castle...eek! So exciting!!

Such a fun photo shot! The pro's pic came out a lot better, but this is what you get! haha!

My new husband...hehe

This is the "hill" that I kept hearing about...but it really wasn't as bad as everyone made it seem to be. The picture here doesn't show it very well, and there was more than one inclining hill, but neither were to bad if you trained on even the smallest of hills or paced yourself.

Let the countdown begin!!!

A week from tomorrow I will be running in the 5th Anniversary Disney Princess 1/2 Marathon!!!! I cant believe how close it is!

I want to apologize for my absense!
First off I have to confess my bad behavior...I ran 10 miles two weeks ago, and then I didnt go running again until this past Tuesday, on the treadmill. Then I didnt get back to the gym until friday, I ran a 5k on the TM and did some strength training.
While at the gym on friday I decided to do a make up trial. I would not only like to feel my best during the race, but also look my best. So I recently purchased some waterproof mascara from Mary Kay and decided to give it a try!
So here is a before:

And After:
Looks pretty good! You can tell I was sweatin with the slicked back hair, haha! But I like to wear eye liner too, but that tends to smudge easily, so i might need to research some sort of waterproof eyeliner...

Also, if you have been hearing the news, last weekend us New Englanders received quite the storm!
Here are a few pictures before shoveling at my place in Massachusetts!

Insane right!??? Rich and I had to go out three different times to shovel. The first time when our landlord arrived thinking he would plow out where we park, but he only plowed the driveway and as close as he could to our cars. Then he proceeded to say "I will come back later, just to give you guys some time to shovel around your cars"......7 hours later he came back. So before he came back we went back out for some more shoveling, then when he finally came back we were able to get out, let him plow and be done! Not what I wanted to do with my Friday, but hey, ya gotta do what ya gotta do!

Now for a costume update!
So tutu is just about complete, I believe I shared a picture of when it all started, but now sequins have been added, although it doesnt show well in the photo below, but when it is complete you will see better! But I still need to add one more important detail as well as sewing it off in the back. I also ran into a little trouble with my top! I found this tank top from Old Navy Active that would be perfect and was the perfect shade of purple. I order it online, since its not available in stores, I get it in, and it is way too tight! Bummer! I just received it this week, so I didnt want to take the risk of ordering another one in a bigger size and not getting it in time to complete the whole costume for when i would like!

So then I was on the hunt for some sort of top. All the active tops I have found are to dark of a purple than I would like. So I ended up settling on a very thin/light cotton tee. I am not excited about the cotton, but I figure I should be ok because it is such thin material! I think it is more of a light gray/purple color. I know it will still look adorable, but not what I had built up in my head! But I cant wait to finish it all tomorrow and share it will all of you!!

As the countdown continues I hope to be up to date on here every day with my preperations! I have many to do lists that all have the same things on it, I have packing lists and many other things to prepare! Let it all begin!

Who Am I?

Ok, so a few weeks ago I went to iParty looking for some costume supplies and this past weekend to get some fabric for my costume for the Princess 1/2 Marathon.

Im sure if you have been reading my blog, you already know who my costume is and it isnt to hard to figure out from the picture! But here it is anyways!

So...any of you care to take a guess!???

Post a comment and let me know what you think!
Plus I just like to see who is actually reading this thing!

So who am i?
Who are you going to be at the Princess 1/2 Marathon?
If you arent going, but have done a race...did you wear a costume?

Pushing myself

So yesterday I decided to extend my run a bit and push myself as well as take advantage of the straight road. Still being at my parents house, they live approx. 1.5 miles from the town line. So I figured I would use this as a half way point, and run to the town line then turn around.

I was hoping that it would make a 3mile run, but I was just shy of 3 miles. But I am sure glad that it was not as hot and humid as it is today. I think I saw the temperature was at 84degrees, but man it still felt really hot!

Anyways, it was a pretty good run, but I felt that it was faster than my pace outcome. So I am a bit dissapointed, but still proud that I pushed myself a bit for my "short" run. I just wish it wasnt so warm and hot!

So the fact that I have begun this journey to reach the Disney Princess 1/2 Marathon, I have been looking at the RunDisney website non stop. Registration starts on tuesday, I will not be registering that first day. I am still trying to figure out if I am truly able to do this, and I am more sure than I seem....I have like 6months to train! But I also need to make sure that I can fund my way, and I am hoping that I can talk some family members into coming and splitting the cost! hehe.

I have also been thinking about what princess I would dress myself as...and I am leaning heavily onto Ariel. I remember as a kid, my sister and I would always pretend to be mermaids when we would be swimming in the pool, swimming like we had a tail. It was always a lot of fun...haha! Im thinking of making my own tutu with greenish colors like her tail, and somehow making a shell-looking bra like the one she wears. Im sure when the time comes, so will pictures. They will probably show me making and of course wearing it! It is one of the most exciting parts of the whole thing...being able to dress up!
